Supported Independent Living.

Enriched living environments for young men who are challenged by cognitive impairment, mental ill health and psychosocial issues.
Enriched living environments for young men who are challenged by cognitive impairment, mental ill health and psychosocial issues. At Carewise, we know that compatibility plays a big part in the success of a SIL arrangement. This is one of the reasons why we have chosen to focus on serving just young men. We know how to create a stable and enriching living environment for these young men to thrive.
With the participant's needs and goals at the forefront, we develop a plan for progress for our young men. We then match them up with the right co-tenant who has similar interests and goals. We have handpicked our Support Workers who have extensive experience working with young men, they don't just care for our participants, they take on a mentor/big brother role too.

"It's our privilege to not only provide inspired living environments for our participants, but to also build their circle of support."

Managing Director.
Our unique approach to SIL
So much more than just accommodation, we're building the participants Circle of Security.

A Care Model They Can Depend On
Our staffing model allows us to quickly earn the trust of the participant. A support worker will stay at the house on a 7 day on, 7 day off roster. Long shifts provide stability and consistency that these young men can count on (no short shifts, no revolving door of staff).

Creating Places to Belong
Young men need a sense of belonging as this empowers them and builds confidence. We are creating opportunities for interdependence and collaboration through our inspired living arrangements, group camping trips, Workwise and our social events

An Individual Plan for Progress
With the participant in the driver's seat, a plan for progress is developed which is based on their goals, needs, strengths and areas of improvement. We hold ourselves accountable to our participants and the progress they make

Collaboration, Interdependence and Social Participation.
As an organisation we are focused on providing opportunities for social participation. Our young men are encouraged to engage in our inter-home bbq’s, group camping trips and other organised social activities. Through our Workwise program our participants get to network with their co-workers and engage with the community through our various service projects.

We've developed programs specifically for young men.
We're excited to introduce you to our Workwise and Skillwise programs.

Building employability & economic participation.
Our SIL and ILO participants are encouraged to join our in-house work crew. Workwise is "safe place" for them to earn money, learn about employment dynamics, appropriate workplace behaviours and to gain all the benefit that come from getting outside and doing a hard days work.

Education to independence with Skillwise.
Skillwise is an up-skilling program that was created in collaboration with the National Centre for Training and Development to help young men build upon their own understanding in the following key focus areas; Health and Wellbeing, Problem Solving & Conflict Resolution, Money Budgeting, Effective Communication, Positive Relationships, Cooking and Nutrition.

Our available SIL properties
Our SIL homes take into account each person's individual needs and support requests. The homes have been set up with our young men in mind with modern furniture and appliances, cool artwork and more.
